Netflix has shared the trailer of the sic-fi film "The Electric State," which is adapted from the graphic novel of the same name by Simon Stålenhag. In 2017, the film was first announced and, finally, it is scheduled to be released by Netflix on March 14, 2025. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci.
What is the Story of The Electric State?
Simon Stålenhag’s novel is set in a near-future America in 1997, depicting a world plunged into desolation and crisis.
The backdrop of the story is a highly technologically advanced society, but as robotics and artificial intelligence rapidly replace human labor, this society finds itself in turmoil. People gradually feel lonely and disillusioned, losing faith in life.
The main character is an unidentified girl who journeys through the desolate America with her toy robot companion, documenting her journey with a camera. She witnesses various abandoned, damaged, or mutated robots, as well as the surviving individuals struggling in the bleak landscapes.
However, it is said that Netflix's film will deviate considerably from the original and present viewers with an entirely new story.
